About Us

Our Founders

Alec and Belle Waterhouse

waterhousesAlexander C. Waterhouse Sr., who passed away in 1999, was the grandson of Samuel T. Alexander, who co-founded Alexander & Baldwin, one of Hawai‘i’s oldest corporations. After many years with Alexander & Baldwin, Alec founded his own company, now known as Waterhouse, Inc. Throughout his life in Hawai‘i, Mr. Waterhouse was a quiet, humble and caring member of our community, giving generously to many organizations, including Child & Family Services, Palama Settlement, the Salvation Army, and the Universiy of Hawai‘i’s athletic program. He believed strongly in improving life for the people of Hawai‘i and was devoted to his late wife, Belle.

Our Legacy

The Alec and Belle Waterhouse Lecture Series is a ministry of Waialae Baptist Church, and is funded through a charitable trust created by the late Alexander C. Waterhouse, a former member of Waialae Baptist Church and very successful kama’aina businessman. The purpose of our events is to cover subjects furthering the tenets of Christianity.

Our Vision

Through Mr. Waterhouse’s generosity, the Lecture Series is designed to provide high quality, life-changing events that are both biblical and relevant in meeting the spiritual needs of the people of Hawai’i. In meeting this objective as well as the mandate of the trust, the Lecture Series seeks to find topics, speakers, forums and formats that will be cross-denominational and reach out to those who have never heard the Word of God or who desire to be stronger witnesses of God’s love and saving grace.

Our events have covered a wide range of topics including the workplace, church, marriages, parenting, youth and apologetics. Featured speakers include Henry Blackaby, Jim Burns, Nick Vujicic, Mark Dever, Don Whitney, Richard Ross, Brian Haynes, Kurt & Olivia Bruner, Paige & Dorothy Patterson and many others.
